Harvard University John Harvard 390th Anniversary Christmas Ornament

A Collegiate Tribute in a Sculptural Style

Rather than using a conventional round ornament, the Harvard University John Harvard 390th Anniversary Christmas Ornament is designed around a miniature monument-style composition. A seated John Harvard figure rises above a substantial pedestal, creating the appearance of a small commemorative statue suspended from the Christmas tree.

The visual treatment leans into traditional academic architecture. The figure has an antique bronze-toned finish, while the dark pedestal features a marble-like pattern accented with gold details. On its front are the words “JOHN HARVARD”, a Harvard-style shield, and the anniversary inscription “390th ANNIVERSARY 1636–2026.”

A small architectural illustration appears along the side of the base, adding another layer of university-inspired detail without making the design feel crowded.

Its deep bronze, charcoal and gold palette also gives this ornament a different character from brighter Christmas decorations. Against green pine branches and warm tree lights, the John Harvard anniversary ornament has the appearance of a miniature historical keepsake rather than a standard seasonal bauble.

For alumni, students, families and collectors of university-themed décor, the 1636–2026 design brings academic tradition into the Christmas tree in a compact commemorative format.
